PDO Threads (Bio-Meyisun)
Polydioxanone (PDO) thread system for minimally invasive tissue lifting and dermal biostimulation. These are absorbable sutures inserted into the subdermal plane to provide immediate mechanical lift and progressive collagen remodeling.
PDO threads are biocompatible, synthetic, absorbable monofilament sutures with predictable degradation via hydrolysis. Once implanted, they create an immediate scaffolding effect for tissue repositioning while inducing neocollagenesis, angiogenesis, and fibroblast activation. This dual mechanism improves skin laxity, contour definition, and dermal density over time. Complete absorption typically occurs within months, with collagen remodeling effects persisting longer.
Thread Types & Clinical Use

Mono Threads (Smooth Threads)
- Smooth, non-barbed PDO threads primarily used for dermal biostimulation rather than lifting.
- They improve skin texture, fine lines, and overall elasticity by stimulating collagen production. Commonly used in superficial planes for full-face rejuvenation, under-eye areas, neck, and fine wrinkle correction.

How to Select
Thread selection is based on treatment objective, anatomical area, and required lift strength. Thinner gauges are suited for superficial rejuvenation, while thicker gauges and longer threads provide enhanced tensile strength for structural lifting. Mono threads are used for skin quality, screw threads for volume restoration, and cog threads for lifting and repositioning.
Positioning
A minimally invasive alternative to surgical lifting, PDO threads offer predictable, repeatable outcomes with reduced downtime and high patient acceptance, making them suitable for routine aesthetic practice.
